Kangana Ranaut Finds Audience Praise for ‘Animal’ ‘Discouraging,’ Hints at Possible Career Change in the Future
Kangana Ranaut recently expressed her thoughts on potentially changing her career path from films to something more meaningful. While not explicitly mentioning the film, she criticized Ranbir Kapoor’s starrer “Animal.” Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday, Kangana stated that the audience encourages films that depict women being treated as sex objects and subjected to violence. She found this deeply discouraging, especially considering her dedication to making films that empower women.
Kangana also mentioned that she had refused offers to work alongside Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor, not because she had anything personal against them. She questioned whether the audience has no participation in the regression of women’s roles in films.
On the same day, someone praised Kangana’s film “Tejas” on X and expressed confusion as to why it didn’t perform well. They also mentioned Karan Johar and his associates attempting to sabotage her career. In response, Kangana acknowledged the overwhelming negativity surrounding her films. She stated that she had been fighting against it but found it disheartening that audiences still support films that degrade women and treat them as mere sex objects. She expressed her consideration of shifting her career in the coming years to dedicate her best years to something more worthwhile.
In another tweet, Kangana discussed the concerning trend of reducing women to mere decorations in films, stripping them of their dignity and clothes. She compared it to the time when she entered the industry, where vulgar item numbers and demeaning roles against older men were prevalent. Kangana reflected on her journey of fighting for pay parity and promoting female-led films like “Gangster,” “Woh Lamhe,” “Fashion,” “Queen,” “Tanu Weds Manu,” “Manikarnika,” “Thalaivii,” and “Tejas.” She acknowledged that her choices had stirred controversy along the way but remained committed to challenging the status quo.
Paid negativity for my films is overwhelming, I have been fighting hard so far but even audiences are encouraging women beating films where they are treated like sex objects and asked to lick shoes, this is deeply discouraging for someone who has been dedicating her life for… https://t.co/VExJHxRE3P
