Rajkumar Hirani Opens Up About Munna Bhai 3: “I Currently Have 5 Half-Written Scripts
Back in 2003, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani introduced the audience to his iconic comedy film, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. The movie starred Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, who portrayed the unforgettable characters of Munna and Circuit. This was followed by the 2006 sequel, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, which also featured Vidya Balan. However, despite the eagerness of fans, there has been no recent update regarding the much-anticipated Munna Bhai 3. Fans are eagerly awaiting any news on the continuation of this beloved franchise.
During a recent conversation with ANI, Rajkumar Hirani opened up about his thoughts on Munna Bhai franchise. He expressed, “My struggle with Munna Bhai has always been that the first two films were so well-received that I currently have five half-written scripts lying around. I feel that unless I can match the level of those two films, I won’t be able to make the third one. I do have one story that has potential, but sometimes stories can become outdated, so only time will tell.” Hirani emphasized the challenges he faces in living up to the high standards set by the previous installments and acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the future of Munna Bhai 3.
“I often have conversations with Sanju (Sanjay Dutt). He says that we should make another Munna Bhai film. Now that Dunki has come to an end, I will open the treasure trove of old stories. I have the desire to make another Munna Bhai film, but I don’t know when,” Hirani shared. He expressed his eagerness to explore the possibility of Munna Bhai 3, relying on the collection of past stories he possesses. However, the timing and feasibility of the project remain uncertain. In the meantime, Rajkumar Hirani released his latest film, Dunki, on December 21. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Shah Rukh Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, and Boman Irani, among other talented actors.
