Richa Chadda is improving her Urdu accent for Lahore Confidential
Going back to the set is one of the happiest times for actors these days. The 7-month gap has been the most difficult, as the lock-down caused by the epidemic had upset everyone.
When a start-to-finish schedule was prepared for Richa Chadda’s upcoming project in Lucknow, Richa Chadda was happy to be back at work.
The actress spent time improving her Urdu accent to give her style a real look.
Having grown up in a cultured family in Delhi, the actress has always enjoyed poetry. She has been greatly influenced by the works of Mirza Ghalib, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Bashir Badr, Chakbast etc. But now, for the film, the actress has once again raised her interest in it. Although her character in the film does not speak Urdu, her ‘accent’ is the way she tried to play it perfectly during the shoot. Producers have hired a diction specialist from Lucknow to help the artists in correct pronunciation.
The actress explains, “It is essential for the character to remain authentic and as actors it is primarily our job to perfect every element of our character. I am glad that this film gives me an opportunity. I was already interested in poetry, so it worked. Exploring language, place and culture is the most thrilling aspect of being an actor. Every day is a learning experience and the shoot, which has been closed for some time, is now being completed.
