Usha is the second youngest child of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti (Shudhamati). She was born on 15 December 1935 in Maharashtra. She started classical singing at a very young age. She had sung songs in many languages ​​including Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Nepali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati. However, Usha got her real identity from the 1975 film Jai Santoshi Maa. She is the youngest sister of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Meena Khadikar, and older than her music-director brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
