Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal Head to the US for Sundance Film Festival Premiere of Their Debut Production ‘Girls Will Be Girls’

Celebrated actors turned producers, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, are all set to make their mark at the esteemed Sundance Film Festival 2024 with their debut production, Girls Will Be Girls. The film, which is competing in the World Dramatic Cinema category, is expected to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative. Richa and Ali have eagerly embarked on their journey to Park City, Utah in the United States, ready to showcase their labor of love on the international stage. The highly anticipated world premiere is scheduled for January 20th.

Girls Will Be Girls is a collaborative effort between Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s production houses – Pushing Buttons Studios, Blink Digital, Crawling Angel Films, and Dolce Vita Films. Directed by Shuchi Talati, the film unravels a gripping tale set in a boarding school nestled in a small Himalayan hill town in northern India. The storyline intricately weaves together the rebellious awakening of a 16-year-old girl played by Preeti Panigrahi and her mother’s unfulfilled coming-of-age experience portrayed by the talented Kani Kusruti. The film also features Jitin Gulati and Kesav Binoy Kiron in pivotal roles.

Expressing her excitement, Richa Chadha shares, “Being selected for such a competitive cinema festival is a tremendous achievement in itself. I have high hopes for Shuchi as a director and the fresh-faced actors. Kani’s brilliance, as witnessed in Killer Soup, is a blessing.”

Ali Fazal adds, “As new producers, we are venturing into uncharted territories through new stories. Sundance marks our first step towards discovering new worlds. I am thrilled that we can share our creation with the world. I am also grateful for the amazing jury in the world competition category who will be watching Girls Will Be Girls.”

The Sundance Film Festival, renowned for its celebration of groundbreaking independent cinema, provides an ideal platform for the world premiere of Girls Will Be Girls. Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s maiden production promises to leave a lasting impact, offering a fresh perspective on storytelling and the human experience.
