Kunal Kemmu Reflects on ‘Go Goa Gone’ as Film Marks 11-Year Milestone: ‘Brings Me Immense Happiness and Pride

Go Goa Gone, India’s first zombie apocalypse movie, remains an iconic Hindi film even after eleven years since its release. Directed by Raj and D.K., the film captivated audiences not only with its hilarious and engaging storyline but also with its breakthrough performances and memorable dialogues. Kunal Kemmu, who played one of the leads in the film alongside Vir Das and Anand Tiwari, reflected on his experience in this beloved film. As the writer of its iconic dialogues as well, Kemmu shared some fond memories about this entertaining project. Expressing his thoughts on the film, Kunal Kemmu said, “Go Goa Gone holds a special place in my career.
We embarked on this journey with utmost dedication to bring this film to life. Raj & DK are exceptional filmmakers who deserve all the recognition. I am grateful that I could contribute more than just acting to the film. Through this project, I learned so much about filmmaking and writing, expanding my horizons as an actor.  Previously, I only wrote for myself, but ‘Go Goa Gone’ changed that, giving me confidence as a writer as well. It’s a film that brings me immense happiness and pride.” Celebrated as a cult classic, Go Goa Gone is known for its perfect blend of horror, comedy, rib-tickling dialogues, and catchy tracks.
The film follows the journey of a group of friends who embark on a vacation in Goa, only to find themselves battling a desi zombie apocalypse. Released on May 10, 2013, the movie continues to win hearts with its unique charm. Alongside Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das, and Anand Tiwari, the film also stars Puja Gupta and features Saif Ali Khan in an extended cameo. Fans of the film will be delighted to know that filmmakers Raj and DK have expressed their intentions to revive Go Goa Gone as a franchise, with talks of a sequel being in the works. However, there have been no recent updates regarding the progress of the sequel. Nonetheless, the original film’s enduring popularity and impact make it a memorable milestone in Indian cinema.
