Richa Chadha Playfully Calls Out Ali Fazal for Surprise Pregnancy on Kapil Sharma’s Show
During the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the team of Heeramandi, including Richa Chadha, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Aditi Rao Hydari, graced the stage and had an interesting conversation. Richa Chadha, known for her role in Fukrey, had a surprising revelation to make. As Kapil Sharma congratulated Richa on her pregnancy with husband Ali Fazal, he jokingly remarked how clever it was of her to plan her family series during the shooting of the web series. However, Richa had a cheeky comeback that left everyone in splits. She quipped, “Planned nahi thi!” This unexpected response left Kapil speechless and amused the audience.
Kapil decided to play along with the comment, saying, “Uparwale ka karam hota hai ye to,” to which Richa delivered an even funnier punchline. She replied, “Kuch to aapke bhaiya ka bhi karam tha but…” Her tongue-in-cheek remark had everyone laughing. Later, Kapil asked Richa about her family planning in more detail, and she once again showcased her comedic timing. She humorously remarked, “Mujhe lagta hai, Bharat ki aabadi ko dekhte huye, limited edition hi theek rahega!” This witty response added to the light-hearted banter on the show. For those unaware, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal got married under the Special Marriage Act in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and celebrated their wedding in October 2022.Â

The couple announced their pregnancy in February 2024 and are expecting their baby in July. Richa also shared her experience of getting married and becoming pregnant during the shoot of Heeramandi. She said, “Meri poori practice ho gayi. Meri costume 30 kilo thi, uske baad jab meri shaadi ke outfits maine pehne to mujhe laga nothing! Nothing, no weight. Araam se kooda, gaao, khelo.” Her lighthearted comment highlighted the ease with which she managed her costumes during the production. In Heeramandi, Richa Chadha portrays the character of Lajjo. Although her role may not be extensive in the web series, she is one of the few characters who deserves a spin-off, as fans would undoubtedly be interested in learning more about her backstory.
